RS Teacher in an Outstanding comprehensive school in London. All my lessons are always conceptual, accurate in content, challenging and engaging for students. The department is consistently among the best results in the school with strong P8 and attainment scores. This is a game I've created for my year 11's. They've been struggling with keywords so this is a fun activity that can be played multiple times with them.
There are differing levels of rules so can allow for differentiation as well.
The cards have been created so that you can print them double sided and the tiles will match up (or print and photocopy 1sided - 2 sided and it should work)
I recommend laminating and printing each set of different colour paper. There are about 30 words in total.
The rules in short are,
Spread the cards out across your table with the keyword facing up
Each player takes it in turn to select a card and guess the definition of the word.
If the player guesses correctly with the reverse of the card they keep the card and add it to their pile.
If they are incorrect the leave the card to the table and put back 3 cards from their hand.
Winner is the person with the most cards at the end of the game.

This is a power point and silent debate sheet for an A level lesson of Calvin’s doctrine of accommodation. The power point is relatively brief which allows students to spend the second half of the double doing activities. I had mine do a silent debate (they had a hand out which was an extract from the Eduqas textbook and 10 mins to read it and highlight) They really did well and enjoyed it a lot, much to my surprise as this isn’t the most interesting unit for them!
This revision pack follows the AQA text book for year 2. Its scaffolded to make things easier.
It covers the principles of dualism according to Descartes, including critiques, before moving onto physicalism (functionalism) and dual-aspect Monism.
I hope it helps your students revise!
This lesson covers both the resurrection and the ascension, the video may take a moment to load, if it stays a blank white box the plug in hasn’t activated so the ppt just needs to be re opened.
There are a variety of activities designed to be modified, dropped in and out depending on your students and time table.
There is an evaluation activity looking at the evidence and arguments around the resurrection.
Lesson 7: Sin, Salvation and Atonement
Lesson 8: Heaven and Hell
Lesson 9: Problem of evil
Please see individual lessons (uploaded separately) for more detail on each one.
Please note, there is also a lessons 1-9 bundle available.
This is a really big lesson for worship and prayer, you may find it easy to split in two. It covers the who the whats of these different styles. I’ve also now updated it to include lots of videos through, which the students really like. My year 10s like to write EVERYTHING down, its good training for A level and will help the revise, however you may want to just turn them into crib sheets if you want the to note take.
The activity is a sorting one but in the interests of time I recommend using highlighters, the hands are also included, it is a way of listing advantages and disadvantages - thinking along the lines of 12 mark question.
In the powerpoint I’ve included a video that has stuff to do with speaking in tongues (its a long video but you’d start from about 11 min in. Obviously, skip this if you’re not confident in explaining this belief and don’t want to open a can of worms, most people find it a bit freaky. If you do include it, I recommend talking them through the video and explaining that these people are having a ‘religious experience’ and it’s their emotions on display.
If the videos don’t load after a few moments, re launch the power point.
Lesson 4 - Festivals (Christmas and Easter)
Lesson 5 - Role of the Church in the Community
Lesson 6 - The place of mission and evangelism
Lesson 7 - Growth of the worldwide Church
Please see individual lessons (uploaded separately) for more detail on each one.
This is a longer lesson on Islam, it serves as an introductory outlining the history and cultural setting before moving on to look at Sunni and Shi’a Islam. There are a few embedded videos to make things more interesting and the final activity can be adapted to make it more creative or dynamic (carousel) as the info sheet is included.
This lesson looks at the 99 names of God, as well as exploring the ideas of God’s immanence and transcendence. There’s a number of activities to choose between, I used the debate one as a table debate and had them circulating and writing on the table with the whiteboard pens!
I’ve set this up so it can be done as a carousel type activity. Included is a scaffolded worksheet for note taking. There are are questions in the powerpoint and a 12 mark question at the end.
It looks at the roles of angels including Mika’il and Jibril. It follows the AQA textbook.
This lesson covers Ashura from Shi’a Islam, an interesting and evocative topic, great for class discussion. There are also exam style questions in the power point.
I focus the majority of this unit on Christianity as there is enough diversity to fulfill the exam requirements. However, it does still include Islam when appropriate.
This lesson contains lots of information slides, ideal for home learning/revision. Easily adaptable into active learning strategies for your teaching style.
The is an introduction to the ontological argument. An argument which can only be appreciated if one has the understanding of the philosophical terms and concepts involved.
This lesson expands the concepts such as inductive/deductive reasoning, analytic/synthetic statements, subject/predicate.
This is an organised and differentiated project designed as the culmination of the CRE SOW (also available)
I advise you adapt it to your class, the year 9s were able to do all of these but year 7 may struggle so limit it to just two tasks/topics possibly.
Students should present their research.
